Ruja Ignatova, known as the CryptoQueen, is a Bulgarian native and German citizen who was last seen in Athens in 2017. She faces charges of money laundering, fraud, and securities fraud, with a potential sentence of up to 80 years in federal prison if found guilty. The OneCoin scam, launched in Bulgaria in 2014, is infamous in the crypto sector as a Ponzi scheme rather than a legitimate cryptocurrency. Recently, OneCoin co-founder Karl Sebastian Greenwood was found guilty of wire fraud and money laundering.
