El Mocambo: the soul of Old Toronto meets Tomorrow’s community
The nightclub’s stylized neon palm tree has left a significant imprint on the nightlife of Ontario’s Rock ‘n’ Roll community. Just south of college street, El Mocambo’s history dates back to 1946 when the dream that would now become Toronto’s hottest nightclub was originally envisioned as a fine dining establishment with a Mexican flavour. Over the years, the venue has played gracious host to The Rolling Stones, Duran Duran, Elvis Costello and many many more.
During the late 70’s, El Mocambo evolved to become the premiere destination for some of the leading rockstars of the decades with even U2 and Stevie Ray Vaughan calling the place home. Through the charitable work of Toronto philanthropist Michael Wekerle, the nightclub is now a shining beacon of both its proud past and its bright future.
As a hub for the old rockers and the new up-and-coming DJs alike, El Mocambo gracefully dances the line between being a welcoming home and a vibrant and energetic venue. Therefore, the club is the perfect place to welcome the best and brightest of the emerging tech world.
