20 awards and 7 artworks later: A recap of the opening night of AIBC Eurasia 2024
The AIBC Eurasia Summit kicked off with a bang on its opening night, hosting an array of luminaries from the tech and blockchain industries at the Intercontinental Hotel Dubai Festival City. Co-hosted by Olga Yaroshevsky and Mark Anthony Borg, the AIBC UAE Emerging Tech Awards event, held courtesy of Fastex, was marked by a celebration of innovation, achievement, and philanthropy, setting the stage for the rest of the summit, taking place between the 25th and 27th February.
Drawing in over 300 distinguished guests, the gala evening provided unmissable networking opportunities and served as a platform to recognize outstanding contributions across various sectors. Among the highlights of the evening were the awards, which showcased ground-breaking projects and individuals shaping the future of technology and blockchain. Violinists and the LED Dancers provided mesmerising performances during the event.
The winners of the AIBC UAE Emerging Tech Awards spanned a diverse range of categories, reflecting the breadth and depth of innovation in the industry. From AI education to blockchain solutions, each award recognized excellence and forward-thinking initiatives. Notable winners included Marcello Mari for Best AI Educator 2024, Cyber Secure Gen AI for Best AI Project 2024, and Sui Network for Best Blockchain Solution 2024, among others.

One of the evening’s most anticipated events was the AIBC Eurasia auction, held courtesy of BetConstruct, the proceeds of which will go to SiGMA Group’s charitable arm – the SiGMA Foundation. Featuring seven stunning artworks, the auction captivated attendees with its eclectic mix of paintings and sculptures. Spurred on by the inimitable auction host Rick Goddard, enthusiastic bidders drove prices well beyond their initial bids.
The auction culminated in an exhilarating round of bidding, with the total proceeds raised amounting to €15,700, a testament to the generosity and commitment of the attendees towards supporting the SiGMA Foundation. Worthy of mention was one winning bidder who donated one of the paintings back to the SiGMA Foundation and donated another to one of the guests at the event, namely Dr W. Scott Stornetta, considered by many as the co-founder of blockchain technology.
