Representing the tabib.mt digital health platform, Michael Psaila Debono and Dr Dylan Attard speak with Jeremy Micallef to give an insight into telehealth in Malta and how it can add tremendous value to your company

Steering the Creative Wheel

Michael Psaila DebonoThe tabib.mt team launched the platform as an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) during the first COVID-19 wave to test the waters, and although a new concept for Malta, it has since taken off with no signs of stopping, motivating us to keep improving our product offering.

The hugely positive influence of foreign expats living in Malta has certainly aided our growth, with 50% of all patients booking online consultations on tabib.mt being non-locals. The team believes that tabib.mt adds a special kind of value to expats living here for two main reasons.

  • Most expats would already be used to such platforms back at home.
  • Healthcare systems differ from country to country, and telehealth platforms alleviate any potential difficulty to adapt to them

Whilst some healthcare problems require ER attendance, such as if you break your arm, a number of conditions can be attended to digitally. Tabib.mt was not designed to replace traditional medical visits, but rather as a facilitator of the process. We look at tabib.mt as extending the services of healthcare practitioners by bridging the gap between them and potential patients who seek the safety and convenience of online medical consultations.

Adding Value to Your Employer Branding

iGaming is famously known for having strong employer branding across the industry -giving added-value benefits to employees, amazing social gatherings and also health prospects.

Up until now, in Malta, it was impossible for HR managers of these esteemed companies to explore the idea of offering a telehealth platform as a benefit to their employees – it simply didn’t exist.

tabib.mtThanks to tabib.mt, long gone are the archaic systems of calling up a doctor to home-visit a sick employee or expecting the employee to get out of the house and visit a doctor for a sick-note. Instead, the employee can consult a doctor from his own home, all the while the HR manager knows that a doctor has attended to their employee. This is not only a benefit for the employee, but a great, accountable system for the company itself.

Reduced employee absenteeism, lowered costs, increased productivity, promotion of social distancing when contact is unnecessary and safety and convenience for your staff are only but a few of the benefits that tabib.mt will bring to your company.

Healthy Employees = healthy company = healthy industry = healthy economy. We are all in this together.

The Simplicity and Versatility

Although called tabib.mt, the platform does not only offer GP (General Practitioner) / Medical Doctor services to the stakeholder, and since launching we have managed to onboard over 30 healthcare practitioners that come from over 18 different medical backgrounds.

Something the pandemic has allowed us to do is sit back, think and re-evaluate our lives. We feel that mental health in particular has been taken for granted over the last years. Our lives have gotten more fast-paced, more stressful and busier, and this is especially relevant in the ever-so-speedy igaming industry.

If you’re like most employers, then you know that your teams are your most important asset, and safeguarding their health plays a critical role in their success – and yours. Tabib is transforming healthcare by providing telehealth services that benefit both employers and employees.
