More than £100,000 in crypto goes to charity
The Giving Block is a platform allowing this charity to accept cryptocurrency donations safely and easily
UK’s children charity Children Heart Unit Fund received at least £100,000 (or $137,560) in crypto donations within the last 12 months of operation.
This is one of the few charities in the UK that can receive Bitcoin and crypto offerings as donations.
The charity organisation indicated that a considerable number of donations have been received by HOPE TOKEN, MoonBoys Finance, and Dan Bainbridge. A one-off donation was worth more than £70,000. The charity also named a long-term supporter, pledging a crypto donation worth more than $10,000.
The Head of Fundraising for CHUF, Charlotte Campbell, said:
“As a small charity, you have to be brave when it comes to fundraising, now more than ever. After a lot of research, we decided to partner with The Giving Block, a platform which allows us to accept cryptocurrency donations safely and easily.”
“It’s been quite a journey since we first started the process to seeing donations of £10,000, £20,000 even £70,000 come through – as a fundraiser that will always be incredibly exciting. We are beyond grateful to the generous donors who have made it possible for CHUF to continue to bring smiles to the faces of Heart Heroes across the UK.”
All these donations will be of a resting shoulder to Heart Heroes and their families to cope with the financial needs needed to positively impact patient’s lives.
Crypto donations are well suited for instant transactions, traceability, and immutability. Recently, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin donated a notable amount of more than $1 billion worth of SHIB tokens to India Covid Relief Fund.
