General Guidelines

1. If you need to exchange money, the currency in Malta is Euros.

2. Power sockets used in Malta are of Type G plugs, which have three rectangular pins. If you’re bringing electronic devices from another country, you may need to bring an adapter to fit these sockets.

4. Research the type of hotel you want to stay in, as there are a variety of options available including luxury resorts, budget-friendly hotels, and serviced apartments.

5. Make sure to also have the contact information for your hotel and the nearest embassy or consulate.

6. Buy a SIM card in Malta. Roaming charges fees are extremely high.

Malta Visa Requirements

  • EU nationals are allowed to enter Malta by only carrying an identification document.
  • Non-EU nationals need to show the following documents at the Maltese port of entry;
  • A valid passport or travel document. (Valid for at least three more months beyond your planned date of exit from Schengen, and issued within the last 10 years.)
  • A Visa (if you are subject to the Maltese Visa regime.)
  • Travel Health Insurance. (Covering medical emergencies in Malta and the whole Schengen area for a minimum of €30,000.)

In some cases, you might be asked to show additional documents as an invitation letter. Please fill in your details here should you require such a letter.

Please, make sure that the Maltese Border Officer stamps your passport when you enter Malta. Without a stamp, you could be fined or detained.

Who needs a Schengen Visa to Enter Malta?

As a member of the Schengen Area, Malta applies the Visa code to all travellers wishing to step in its territory. According to this, you will need to apply for a Schengen Visa to Malta if:

What document is required?

The mandatory required documents for a short-stay Visa to Malta are as follows:

  • Maltese visa application form. Learn here how to correctly fill in the Schengen Visa Application Form.
  • Two passport photos. The photos should be identical and comply with the photograph requirements for Maltese Schengen visa application.
  • Your valid passport.
  • It has at least blank pages in order to affix Visa.
  • It is no older than 10 years on the date you plan to leave Malta, or the Schengen Zone.
  • Has a validity of at least three more months beyond the date you plan to leave Malta and the whole territory of Schengen.
  • Copies of your previous Visas (if applicable).
  • Malta Travel Health Insurance. (Proof that you have purchased health insurance that covers medical emergencies for at least €30,000 in Malta and the whole Schengen territory.)
  • Round-trip Flight itinerary.
  • Proof of accommodation.
  • Proof of sufficient financial means for the period of stay in Malta.
  • A cover letter. A personal letter in which you explain why you are applying to visit Malta, how long you plan to stay, when will you leave and other details.
  • Proof of civil status. (This could be a marriage certificate, birth certificate of children, death certificate of spouse, etc.)

Alternatively, one can apply for a Malta Business Visa.

When applying to obtain a Maltese Business Visa, you must provide the following additional documents:

  • Invitation letter. (Please fill in you details here)
  • Copy of inviter’s ID or person signing the invitation letter.
  • A letter from your employer. (In this letter should be stated why you will be traveling to Malta.)
  • Proof of trip financing. (Regarding the applicant’s expenses during their stay in Malta, either the employer or the partner company must state coverage of expenses on the letter or invitation.)

How Long Does It Take to Get a Maltese Visa?

The processing time for a Malta short-stay is 15 working days at the minimum. Depending on your situation this period may be extended up to 30 days. Exceptional cases may take up to 60 days, since the Maltese embassies may have to consult with other Schengen consulates.

How Much Does It Cost to Apply for a Maltese Visa?

The costs of a Maltese visa for stays up to 90 days within 6-month periods are as follows:

€80 for adults

€40 for children under the age of 12

Free for children under the age of six

Moreover, according to applicant’s nationality, purpose of visit and some other factors, there are some categories of applicants exempt from paying the fee, and others that need to pay a lower amount as well.

COVID-19 Requirements

  • ONLY travellers entering Malta from China must be in possession of a negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test. The test must be performed not more than 48 hours prior to the time of arrival in Malta.
  • Alternatively, a negative PCR test taken within seventy-two (72) hours prior to arrival in Malta is also accepted.
  • Passengers aged 11 years and under are exempt from this travel requirement.

WHERE AND WHEN WILL THE MALTA WEEK 2022 EXPO HELD?

This year’s SiGMA and AGS summit will take place at one of Malta’s biggest venues – the MFCC (Ta’ Qali) on the 15th, 16th and 17th of November, 2022. AIBC and Med-Tech World will take place at the Hilton Malta over the 16th, 17th, and 18th.

WHO CAN ATTEND THE EXPO?

We’re expecting a plethora of guests from different industries and verticals. From operators and suppliers, to techies and affiliates, our website offers a number of different ticket options to suit different budgets and requirements. HOW CAN I GET TO THE EXPO?

Free shuttle buses will be available throughout the day to take delegates from our selected hotels to the exhibition center and back. Pickup is every 20-30 min, running from 8:30 AM til 7:30 PM.

Alternatively you can get to the MFCC by bus and taxi, or if you’re feeling fancy – with the official SiGMA helicopter.

HOW CAN I COLLECT MY BADGE?

Badges can be collected prior to the show on the 13th and the 14th. Collection points include the Malta International Airport in Luqa, the Hilton Malta lobby, the Hilton Malta Quarterdeck, the Westin Hotel, and Skyclub, all  in St Julian’s, and the Excelsior Hotel in Valletta. On the day badges can be collected from the MFCC registration desk at any point during the summit.

All you need to bring is a copy of your ticket or confirmation on your phone.

ARE THERE ANY COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS I NEED TO BE AWARE OF?

Covid restrictions have been lifted in Malta, and masks are not required on public transportation. For the most up-to-date information please visit the official government site for travel.

Despite this, we recommend you continue to take basic precautions, including frequent hand washing and using sanitiser. If you are feeling unwell or experience Covid-19 symptoms we advise you to pick up an at-home test kit – easily available at any of Malta’s pharmacies.

WHERE WILL THE NETWORKING DINNER BE HELD?

Networking dinners will all be located at some of Mata’s best restaurants – all within walking distance of our selected hotels. Dinners are by invite only. If you have a dinner included in your ticket and did not receive an invitation please reach out to the customer care service on our website. You will need to RSVP to the invite to ensure your place on the guest list.

WHERE WILL THE GALA AWARDS BE HELD?

There are 6 award nights happening. The SiGMA Awards and the Streamer Awards both take place on the 14th at Hilton Hotel and Sky Club Malta respectively. The LCB Awards are scheduled for the 15th. The AGS Awards will be held on the 15th The AIBC Awards will be held at the Grandmasters Suite, Hilton Hotel in St Julian’s, on the 17th of November. The Med-Tech awards will be held at the Hilton Hotel suite in St Julian’s on the 18th of November.

WHEN AND WHERE IS THE OFFICIAL MALTA WEEK CONCERT HAPPENING?

The SiGMA-AIBC concerts, which are headlined by Fat Joe, take place on the 16th at Sky Club Malta.

WHAT SHOULD I LOOK OUT FOR DURING MALTA WEEK?

In addition to the expo and conference there are a number of events taking place during Malta Week. Delegates arriving on the 14th can attend the SiGMA VIP Golf tournament by Axes – held at the Royal Malta Golf Club, the SiGMA Cup by All-in Global, which is taking place at Luxol Football Club, and an iGaming Fun run by Endorphina taking place in St Julian’s. There are prizes attached to the 5km run, so register in advance to be sure you ensure your spot.

The Ikigai Retreat for VCs will also take place on the 14th. The event is limited to 30 qualified VCs and strictly by invite only.

Delegates can also attend the Centurion MMA fight night happening on the 16th at the Ta’ Qali Basketball Pavilion in Ta’ Qali.

A padel tournament by All-in-Global is also scheduled for the 18th in Pembroke – and includes padel, drinks, and pitchside BBQ. Players are capped at 32, but spectators are welcome. Sign up via roy@all-in-global.

Yes, there is free WiFi available at the expo.

CAN I BUY FOOD AT THE EXPO?

A food court will be set up at the expo venue, providing guests with a varied choice of food and drink options. Visit our floor plan for directions.

WHERE CAN I ACCESS CONFERENCE MATERIAL AFTER THE EVENT?

All our panel debates, keynotes, photos, and VIP interviews can be found on our YouTube channels, and social media platforms.

HOW DO I ATTEND THE CULTURAL TOUR?

The cultural tour is a sign up only event for premium and platinum ticket holders only – we recommend you book early to avoid disappointment as places are limited.

HOW CAN I STAY UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE LATEST INFORMATION RELATED TO THE EVENT?
