Ryo Umezawa

Ryo Umezawa spent 10 years in the Philippines prior to studying International Business and Economics at Sophia University in Tokyo.

Ryo has been with J-Seed Ventures since 2005, participating in several partner companies where he frequently assisted in starting up the businesses, marketing and business development. He has experience in the mobile, online marketing, advertisement and platform businesses. In 2008, he was in charge of starting up an iPhone ad network and produced an iPhone app at TrafficGate (Rakuten, Inc. group company).

In 2010, Ryo Umezawa started up his own venture, a mobile marketing company. Since 2013, Ryo served as CEO for Hailo Japan, where he lead the fund raising (first entity globally to independently raise money) and changed the business model of the company in heavily regulated industry. Most recently, Ryo was a country manger for HomeAway, Tinder Japan and Principal at East Ventures.

Having been involved in more than 30 companies until now, Ryo Umezawa is currently venture capitalist at Antler, an angel investor in startups and serves as an adviser to Chinese mobile marketing company. Ryo Umezawa loves working with startups and in addition to being an avid blogger, he is a serious networker who is constantly meeting people and hooking them up with others.

Ryo was selected as a Leaders of Tomorrow at the 40th + 44th St. Gallen Symposium, also the first members of World Economic Forum, Global Shapers Community (GSC) in Tokyo hub, Japan.

AIBC brought together the pioneers of a bright new age of emerging technology ready, able and willing to be the vanguard of Tomorrow. Other than just the established names, we also hosted many an entrepreneur seeking to expand the frontiers of AI and the Blockchain ever forward.

Finally, Med-Tech World united the medical professionals of many disciplines to combine their keen minds and inexhaustible passion for a better tomorrow with the entrepreneurial spirit of investors who also dream of a world free from disease and cancer.

The Week also saw many a networking dinner, speaking panel, drink gatherings and other opportunities for our hard-working delegates to unwind. A few highlights include the awards that congratulated those whose dedication, skill and acumen made them a leading figure in their industry as well as the fact that the conferences where graced by titans such as John Karony, Nolan Bushnell, Djibril Cissé, Akon and Mark Blandford who was awarded an Outstanding Contribution of the Year award for his pioneering work in the iGaming industry.
