In our Spotlight Asia series we’re celebrating some of the leading innovators and game-changers in the emerging tech sectors across Asian markets. As the rate of innovation increases exponentially through technologies such as blockchain, AI, and IoT, there’s a new breed of high-achievers entering the space. Others have further solidified their place in the sector with years of experience informing their ideas.

 

Yuzo Kano is focused on the efficient application of blockchain technology

Yuzo Kano is co-founder and CEO of bitFlyer, and also CEO of the blockchain subsidiary that was launched in 2019.

The wholly-owned subsidiary, bitFlyer Blockchain, was established with the express goal of planning, designing, developing, and focusing on the operational management of services using blockchain technology and of web services and applications.

BitFlyer recently surpassed 2.5 million clients throughout Japan, the U.S. and Europe, and no different alternate is reportedly licensed in all three international locations.

He currently serves as representative director of the Japan Blockchain Association.

 

Sang Lee encourages the global financial services industry to use blockchain technology

Sang Lee is the CEO and co-founder of DarcMatter, a FinTech platform where they seek to make investing in Private Equity, Venture Capital and Hedge Funds whilst providing efficient and transparent deal-making capabilities between alternative fund managers and investors.

Lee was formerly an investment banker with the European investment bank BNP Paribas, and has significant experience in the advisory and execution of more than $10 Bn equivalent of investment banking transactions in North America.

Konstellation was launched as DarcMatter’s blockchain consulting and development division, a launch that Lee led himself. Their goal is to leverage blockchain technology to continue to accelerate further efficiencies in the asset management marketplace, particularly through infrastructure protocol and education.

 

Justin Sun founded one of the largest blockchain-based operating systems in the world

Justin Sun is the founder of TRON and Callme (PEIWO) APP. He has grown TRON into one of the world’s top 10 crypto networks and web 4.0 blockchain app platform, whilst PEIWO has gone on to become one of the largest live voice streaming apps in China.

Peiwo is an app aspiring to become China’s Snapchat, and matches and connects users by analysing 10-second voice samples as well as interests.

The TRON Foundation was founded in 2017, and they are focused on building infrastructure for a truly decentralised Internet. The TRON Protocol is one of the largest blockchain-based operating systems in the world and serves as the foundation for all decentralized applications in the TRON ecosystem.

Sun also acquired BitTorrent, the company that owns uTorrent.

He is the only millennial graduate from Hupan University and is a protégé of Chinese tycoon Jack Ma, Chairman of the Alibaba Group.

 

Yi He helped found the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange

Yi He is a co-founder and current CMO of Binance, and is considered one of the most influential entrepreneurs in the Chinese Internet industry.

Binance is a blockchain ecosystem comprised of Exchange, Labs, Launchpad, and Info. Binance Exchange is one of the fastest-growing and most popular cryptocurrency exchanges in the world.

There they recently launched the Open Platform initiative, under which she explained that Binance will open access to there technology and resources, in an endeavor to enable more crypto access globally.

“We believe the future of Binance is a decentralised open platform, and we have taken many steps in achieving this.”

Before co-founding Binance, Yi served as Vice President at Yixia Technology, whilst earlier in her career, Yi was co-founder of OKCoin, and a TV anchor with the China Travel TV Channel.

 

33 Charity was launched by blockchain startup FUZAMEI to improve the efficiency of charitable cooperation

Chinese blockchain startup FUZAMEI launched 33 Charity, a shared blockchain-based platform for tracing information, registration and storage, to improve the efficiency of charitable cooperation.

It also aims to enhance the transparency and credibility of charity, and contribute to improving social trust.
